Presidente de la UEFA
WELCOME TO THE
MADRID 19 FINAL
BIENVENIDOS A LA FINAL
On behalf of UEFA, welcome to Madrid for the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League final. This game provides the climax to another fantastic season of the best that European club football has to offer. We are privileged to have the opportunity to watch two high-calibre teams and some of world football’s stellar names, as they seek to add this year’s silverware to their list of honours.
Clubs and players all regard the UEFA Champions League as the club competition they most want to win. They dream of brandishing the prestigious trophy at the end of the final, and writing another chapter in the rich annals of a competition that has generated so much excitement and spectacle for more than 60 years. The remarkable events of the semi-
finals, and the wonderful comebacks by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur to reach this final, will remain engraved forever in the memory.
I would like to thank the Royal Spanish Football Federation and its president Luis Rubiales for playing host to the final at the impressive Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid. The Spanish capital is a football stronghold, and this showpiece match is the latest of countless great occasions that have graced the city over the years.
We all hope that the teams and their players will make this another night to remember. It remains for me to wish both clubs good luck for the final – and may the best team win!
